The mission of the VCU Department of Orthodontics is to provide the highest standards of care in the orthodontics specialty and train both predoctoral dental students and postgraduate students to be proficient in the orthodontics specialty, at their respective levels.
We pride ourselves on providing the best and latest care to our patients as well as offering the best preparation for our graduate orthodontic residents. You can join our 24-month advanced education Master of Science in Dentistry program. The program teaches state-of-the-art clinical care in an environment modeled after private orthodontic practice. We invite you to take a closer look at our department and see what we are all about.
Facilities and resources
VCU School of Dentistry's educational and clinical facilities are housed in the VCU Dental Building 1, Lyons, and Perkinson Buildings on the VCU Health Campus and contain clinics, research laboratories, classrooms, student teaching laboratories, departmental offices and a computer learning laboratory. The laboratories and classrooms contain closed circuit television receivers. The Health Sciences Library is located across the street from the School of Dentistry. This is the largest health science library in Virginia.
Our orthodontic practice is a state-of-the-art facility located in the Lyons Building within the School of Dentistry. Our program strives for a private practice setting using up-to-date techniques and equipment. The practice has its own financial coordinator, practice manager, receptionist and orthodontic assistants. Patient records are computerized and billing, scheduling and record storage are accomplished using a commercial orthodontic office management system.
