Fees and payment options

At your initial visit, a university faculty orthodontist will discuss with you what procedure or procedures are proposed and the total costs involved in treatment. The fees for orthodontic care vary according to the specific treatment or treatments rendered. Any change in treatment resulting in a change in fee will be discussed with you in advance.

If you elect to proceed with treatment, a second appointment for records will be scheduled. At the records appointment a financial agreement will be completed and the person financially responsible for the account must be present. This agreement will specify all of your rights and responsibilities and will describe the financial arrangements for treatment in our clinic.

If other dental procedures are needed such as fillings, oral surgery, cleaning, etc., these may be obtained at your family dentist or we can make them available elsewhere in the school. Costs of patient services performed by other nonorthodontic personnel are charged by the unit providing the service. We encourage you to continue your routine dental check ups throughout orthodontic care.

If you have orthodontic coverage under your insurance plan, we will be happy to complete and file the forms for you. The insurance payments will go directly to you and you will still be responsible for the university contract.
